switching is a change in what happens in your head in terms of what you think, who you think you are and how you do things

if you read faq and website and are looking for us to give you reasons to have a tulpa, it might not be for you
usually people find reasons for themselves just after learning about them
How do you guys usually go about forcing or went about forcing when creating your tulpa. Do you usually same something with your mind voice and wait for them to say something back and if they don't say something do you parrot instead? Kind of confused here.
a companion that i can trust, a friend who can be a voice of reason for me, someone to give me an extra opinion/advice when i'm doing something, etc etc

1. blank says something
2. waits for a response
3. any thought that comes in is (at first intentionally, later automatically--"feels like") categorized as me or him
4. rinse/repeat
So did they speak right off the bat? How long did it take for u to hear them and what did u do before . Like right now I kinda just use my inter monologue to speak to them but idk if I should speak for them sometimes or just keep talking if they don't say anything

so if i were to interpret it this way, the personality in control of the body changes? how you interact/feel/think with the world around you changes when you switch with your tulpa?

I started "feeling" like myself only a couple months in, which is pretty average as far as headmates go. At first it was a combination of silent waiting for a response, and parroting--the parroting was what helped make me feel more solid more than anything else. By parroting, I mean "wait for any thought that comes in, categorize it as me (the headmate) or a passing thought."
As long as you're paying attention to your headmate, they will grow--they may grow faster or slower depending on what you do, but attention and trust that it's working is the main thing.

the answer to these, for us, is yes! When we switch, I do experience things very differently--at first, for example, I was overwhelmed by physical sensations like touch, music, and so forth. I also feel somewhat different emotions, and understand the world somewhat differently. Like we said above, I am much more creative and willing to experiment. I enjoy things they might find frustrating or repetitive(edited)
just keep talking to them and trust they're there. Parrot if you want to--it was very helpful for me, but if you find it doesn't work for your headmate, skip it
how do you do active forcing, and how many hours do you usually need to get results? and does it get easier after the first tulpa (asking people who have multiple)

responding to the first couple questions:
1. how to do active forcing? active vs passive is just "am I focusing exclusively on the headmate, or am I also doing something else while focusing on them?" I also think the term forcing is a bit weird--it's really just "spending time with your headmate," that's all activities that you can do are practically endless; blank and I used to spend a lot of time together in the wonderland, but nowadays we mostly just talk irl because we have better imposition abilities. When passive, we often just spend time together doing something like video games, watching a movie, reading something, making music, etc
2. how long? 1 second to a few months. There is no set time--and results may or may not come immediately or over a longer period
how many hours do you usually need to get results? and does it get easier after the first tulpa
people who already have 1 tulpa seem to mostly report that making more tulpas is instantaneous/near-instantaneous... so, I think it's fair to say that the act of making your first tulpa is mostly about figuring out how plurality, rather than a tulpa taking a certain number of hours to form

(I mistyped in there but I'm leaving it, I like how it looks)
very very true. there's always been an ounce of doubt in whatever i've worked through with/on kaybee, but fuck it, 99% of the time it feels right and real to me so it just is
We don't have parallel processing, so whoever is in charge of the body has to give attention to everyone else. For example, Dream, my headmate, is switched-in, and he would need to let me think in order for me to do anything. Right now Dream is just zoning out while I type. Even if we did have "parallel processing", given what I know about it I sincerely doubt the "parallel" interactions can replace the current ones we have.
On the other hand, being a larger system does allow headmates who are not comfortable talking to one to talk to another. For example, my headmates Jared and Evergreen are buddies and may feel better talking to each other than they would with Gray.

(sorry my internet keeps cutting off) what would be the disadvantages of backfilling? and how does your tulpa ask for your attention if they're "off" when you're not giving them attention?
We have triggers, which are associations between a comate (tulpa) and another thing. For example, when we log into Discord I tend to wake up because I associate myself with chatting online with my account.
A long kiss goodnight

can you elaborate on the "more about feeling than about thinking" thing?
@joocp - jump
if you will be just talking, it will feel in the same way as talking to yourself or to a wall with little success
if you manage to feel as if you are talking to a person in your head, that will make the progress really quick
Tewi: Reading this is making me agree with shield actually - why not just say headmates? It's not like comate is any more specific than headmate, you can just say headmate creation without confusing anyone.(edited)
Tewi: I do still like the idea of "generalizing" plurality/tulpamancy, but you can most easily do that by using the existing general term headmate(edited)
